Free workshop
Don't know your praxinoscope from your thaumatrope? Let articule help by introducing you to the history of animation and motion pictures, from ancient times through to the modern era. The presentation will include an overview of various gadgets and gizmos that create, capture and reproduce movement. This historical journey will be followed by a hands-on workshop where participants can make their own articulated shadow puppets.
This initiative, conceived and animated by articule's outreach committee, serves to bridge the current exhibition Souvenir by David Miles to articule's upcoming independent animation event Creatures in the night.
Open to everybody. Basic materials will be provided and refreshments will be served.
