Her journey and her most recent artistic projects, including single-channel video and video installations, as well as projects done in collaboration with different communities.
Gabriela Golder's practice is cyclical, her works explore individual and collective memory, the corporal traces of memory, and identity. The marks of personal history. The notion of disappearance. Of displacement. Of resistance. Of the possibility of resistance. Of the logic of survival. Of action. The gaze as well. The act of looking. And time.
Gabriela Golder (Argentina) is an artist, an independente curator, and a video and new media teacher. She was an artist in residence at Banff Centre for the Arts, at CICV (France), at the Kunsthochschule für Medien (Germany), at Schloss Balmoral (Germany) and at Wexner Center for the Arts (United-States). Her works have been presented in numerous museums and cultural centers in South America, Europe, Asia and North America.
She has received numerous prizes, including the Media Art Award of ZKM (2003), the Videobrasil prize (2003), the grand prize of Festival Vidéoformes (2001 et 2003) and the Tokyo Vidéo Award (2002).
Currently, she is a visiting professor at l'École des Arts Visuels et Médiatiques de l'UQAM in Montréal, Canada.
