Call for Workshop Proposals and Art Interventions in Public Space

Le Mile End s’articule! 2016 edition
As part of the 10th edition of ROTATION! ROTATION! (June 24-25)
Deadline: Wednesday, June 1st, 2016

Send proposals to: outreach @ articule . org

Each year, articule members organize its now famous garage sale fundraiser, ROTATION! ROTATION! It’s a festive affair and an opportunity for the community to shop while supporting the arts in their neighbourhood.

This year, for a second time, articule is taking the party outside to the alley next door, on Friday June 24th (evening only) and Saturday 25th, closed especially for our event. We are imagining it as an art-making space. To do this, we are seeking original proposals for daytime arts activities on Saturday June 25th that will inhabit the alley space and the sidewalk out in front of the gallery and engage visitors in art-making.

Holding Workshops

We are looking for artists and educators who enjoy sharing their skills and knowledge and will bring their passion to public workshops. We are seeking proposals for short workshops, of 1 – 2 hours length, for both children and adults, that are unique and experimental. We encourage proposals for workshops that make use of recycled materials and found objects (supplies available through the garage sale) and all forms of creativity.

Submitting a proposal is simple. Please email a short bio (50 words) and a short text (100 words) describing your idea and include who the workshop would be geared towards as well as a list of the materials required. We’ll assist you in sourcing materials, but please note there is no budget available.

Art Interventions

We are seeking artists interested in promoting contemporary arts practices during ROTATION! ROTATION! Please send us your most audacious proposals that consider and utilize the public space of the alley or the sidewalk in front of the gallery. Painting/drawing, performance, video projections, printing, interventionist work, relational practices, etc.

Email us a brief description of your idea (100 words), a bio (50 words) and a few images (3-5) of your work. Please note that all materials and equipment are the artist’s responsibility.

Payment

Your participation in ROTATION! ROTATION! is in support of the artist-run centre and articule is very appreciative of this. To thank you for contributing to the event, we are offering a you a pick of two items from the fabulous merchandise so generously donated by the centre’s members, collaborators and neighbours. A delicious BBQ meal and a refreshment will be on offer, and articule will love you forever!
