As part of the exhibition Terra dos chinês curio shop, articule has the pleasure of inviting the public to a conversation between artist Karen Tam (Montreal) and professors Alice Ming Wai Jim (Art History) and Kimberley Manning (Political Science) from Concordia University.

The discussion will take place in English with French whisper translation available.

Karen Tam is an artist whose research focuses on the various forms of constructions and imaginations of cultures and communities. She has exhibited her work in Canada, Europe, and the US since 2000. She lives and works in Montreal and London, and holds a PhD in Cultural Studies from Goldsmiths (University of London). She is represented by Galerie Hugues Charbonneau.

Alice Ming Wai Jim is an art historian, curator, and co-editor of the scholarly journal, Asian Diasporic Visual Cultures and the Americas. She is Associate Professor of Contemporary Art in the Department of Art History at Concordia University where she teaches media arts and ethnocultural and global art histories, with a focus on Asian Canadian art.

Kimberley Manning is Principal of the Simone de Beauvoir Institute and Associate Professor of Political Science at Concordia University, Montreal. An LGBTQ ally with strong feminist commitments, Kimberley is currently exploring how to resituate the university as a site of social transformation. Kimberley also teaches and conducts research related to gender and politics in the People’s Republic of China.
