Hannah Strauss, President

Hannah Strauss is currently a Masters in Fine Arts candidate at Concordia University in Montreal, QC. She works between drawing, printmaking, and sculpture, and teaches writing and printmaking. Her practice as an artist is concerned with vestiges of history; the material and linguistic traces which reveal something about both fear and desire, especially in the context of post-apartheid South Africa.

 

Yen-Chao Lin, Vice-President 

Yen-Chao Lin is a Montreal-based multidisciplinary artist and culture organizer. Commenting on various lived experiences through intuitive play, collaboration and scavenging, her practice explores oral history, folk religion, ecology and social permaculture. During the past two years, Lin have been supporting and fore-fronting gendered and racialized voices of Montreal and beyond through her work with Atelier Céladon. 

 

Ariane Fairlie, Treasurer

Ariane Fairlie is an artist and sometimes writer. Originally from Toronto, she graduated with a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia in 2014, and has been a member of articule since 2018. She has written for Kolaj Magazine and a variety of online publications, and worked as a studio manager for painter Zoe Pawlak for 2.5 years. Ariane works part-time for a tech firm as an HR and Administration Coordinator, and part-time in her studio, painting.

 

Katherine McLean Lynch, Secretary

Kat McLean-Lynch is a writer based in Tiohtià:ke (Montréal), with a day job as a legal assistant and a part-time internship in art book publishing. Her main interest is in artist-run publishing, with an aim to make publishing at the community and individual level more accessible for artists of all backgrounds. 

 

Dominique Fontaine

Dominique Fontaine is a curator and founder of aposteriori, a non-profit organization that focuses on "curatorial" research, and innovation in the fields of documentation, development, production and promotion of various contemporary artistic practices. Fontaine graduated from the University of Ottawa in visual arts and arts administration, she completed postgraduate studies in exhibition organization at the De Appel Art Center in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. From 2013 to 2018, she worked as a consultant commissioner for the Royal Ontario Museum's (ROM) "Of Africa" program. Garfield Morgan

Garfield Morgan is an interdisciplinary artist who emigrated from Jamaica to Montreal with his wife in June 2018. He has an MFA in Painting from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas USA, where he was awarded a Post Graduate Teaching Fellowship upon completing his studies. Since arriving in Montreal, Garfield has completed the Starting a Business course through INSA College and is currently completing a Summer Course in Art History at Concordia University, as well as French classes at CEDA.
