Deadline for nominations: April 30, 2020
Dear members and friends,
We are counting on your participation for this year's elections to the Board of Directors.
There are 2 seats to be filled for a two-year term.
We are looking for active and engaged members of our community that are interested in taking on the diverse challenges of an artist-run centre, and excited to collectively envision articule’s many possible futures.
We are in particular seeking people with experience and/or interest in policy development, long-term planning, human resources, fundraising, volunteer and member recruitment, and the ability to foster relationships with local community organisations. Knowledge of articule’s institutional history is also an asset. However, the Board is also engaged to provide training for new Board members, so this experience is not a requirement to be nominated if candidates demonstrate interest in these areas.
How?
It’s easy to nominate a member! First, make sure your membership status is up to date.
IMPORTANT: Because we cancelled our Winter General Assembly due to the pandemic, articule has modified the membership requirements for this year’s elections.
We are now counting the General Assemblies that took place in February 2019, June 2019, and September 2019 as eligible.
Therefore, between February 2019 and May 2020, have you:
• attended 2 General Assemblies OR attended 1 GA and volunteered at least 4 hours of time?
• paid your $1 membership fee?
A list of current eligible members (to nominate someone or to be nominated) can be found below.
If your membership status is in good standing, email administration@articule.org stating: “I nominate (member’s name) for the Board of Directors of articule.” You must nominate two people.
Be sure to consult our Elections Policy for more details.
Cécilia Bracmort (Administrative Coordinator) will follow up with all nominees to provide them with information on the role of the Board and to answer any questions they may have in order to assist them with their decision to run. The nominee is encouraged to contact current Board members as well to gain a better understanding of current matters at the Board, and the responsibilities and opportunities of the position.
When?
The deadline for nominations is April 30, 2020.
About the Board of Directors
The Board is composed of 7 elected members. The role of the Board of Directors is to take administrative and creative initiative in providing direction on the activities and functioning of articule. This involves attending Board meetings and general assemblies, and keeping oneself informed of the centre's status on several levels: its programming and financial situations, its standing within the various collectives and groups it participates in, and its standing vis à vis funding organizations. As well, Board members sit on at least one of the centre’s committees, and attend openings, artist talks, and other articule activities based on their interests. The Board is delegated by the general membership to establish policies. It must, therefore, represent the interests of the general membership.
