articule’s Movie Nights are a series of film screenings presented by members of the centre as a way to learn about their individual practices and to raise some funds for articule. All are welcome!

Following the screening of Gohatto (Taboo), writer Ronald Rose-Antoinette will lead a conversation around the following themes: the rule of loving (and not loving), repetition, rehearsal and betrayal, the production/circulation of desires and the centrifugal dispersal of affection, the law of believing and make believe. 

About Gohatto (1999, Nagisa Oshima, dir., 100 min.):
At the end of 19th century, Sozaburo Kano, a young and enchantingly beautiful man, is admitted to a strictly male samurai militia. His appearance creates a fascination among the other men which takes form through jealousy, suspicion, and murder.

Ronald Rose-Antoinette holds a Master’s degree in Film Studies and is a Doctoral Candidate in Philosophy (Concordia University). He is a member of articule since 2014.
