Denis Lessard lives and works in Montreal. He has a master degree in art history (1985) and has presented his performances and visual works since 1982, while being active as a critic, translator, independent curator and teacher. He has presented his artworks in Quebec, Canada, the United States, France and the Netherlands. Through his interdisciplinary practice, he has addressed the issues of collection, masculine identity, spirituality, and relationships between literature, music and the visual arts. He has completed several residencies across Canada (Galerie Horace, Sherbrooke, 1994; AKA Gallery, Saskatoon, 2000; Banff Centre, 1987, 1991, 2007) and in the Netherlands (Het Wilde Weten, Rotterdam, 1998), where he has created projects pertaining to memory, history and the communities located in the cities and venues he has explored.
