For this exhibition at articule Thérèse Mastroiacovo will present a series of large-scale drawings. Each drawing in the series uses the cover of an existing book or catalogue published within the last sixty years that contains in its title the words 'art' and 'now'. The accumulation of these drawings suggests that the history of contemporary art consists of a continuing present tense, each an italicized moment within a larger continuum. It is only bits of contextual information that returns each drawn cover to its specific context and distinguishes one moment from the next. Helium filled text balloons, balloons in the shape of letters, of the word 'now', accompany the drawings: now and now again, an ongoing present, a now with duration.
